“Let’s Fight Racism”

September 26, 2011
tags: ,

The UN launched an anti-racism campaign last week. From the website:

Racism, xenophobia and intolerance are problems prevalent in all societies. Each and every one of us plays a role in either contributing to or breaking down racial prejudice and intolerant attitudes.

The campaign is using eight images to stir conversation. It is quite interesting. Below are a few images from the campaign. Check out Let’s Fight Racism and let me know what you think.

This seems… not very helpful. They are encouraging people to “label” – one way or another. I get what they are trying to say with the “more than meets the eye” thing… but, there has to be a better way… and it seems like what they’re trying to do is break down stereotypes – which, though contributing to or stemming from racism, is not really the root of the problem. Are you going to share more of YOUR thoughts?
