One nation under God

November 8, 2012

The following quote comes from a post entitled, A Post Election Letter To The Saints In America, by Jamal Jivanjee:

Many of you have have been working so very hard to create a nation under God, that is indivisible, which is a bastion of liberty and justice for all. Many of you have been working so very hard to create a shining city on a hill that is the hope of the world. Many of you are heartbroken because you see your work, your hopes, and your dreams going down the tubes.

Brothers and sisters, don’t be heartbroken. All that is going down the tubes is your delusion that you can create a shining city on a hill that is an indivisible bastion of liberty and justice for all.

Did you know that the Lord is building, and already has, one nation in Himself that is indivisible?

Did you know that the Lord already has, and is building, a city on a hill that shines brightly?

Did you know that the Lord already has, and is building, a nation that is the definition of freedom and justice?

Why are you so sad today? Take courage. The only real, eternal, and holy nation that exists is just fine. Stop looking at a false imitation, and start looking at the real thing. I have already made the move to this new nation, and it’s great here. Maybe now you will have some more motivation to make the move as well

Yes I know, I hate moving as well.  Have no fear, however.  Although this move will kill you, it is quite simple.  Unlike other moves you are probably used to, this move involves no work.  This move simply involves the realization that you have already moved to this new, holy, indivisible nation that is a bastion of liberty and justice for all.

When we hear the phrase “one nation under God,” most of us assume it refers to the United States of America. And why not? The phrase appears in the Pledge of Allegiance  “In God we trust” is written on the back of our money, and we have been told that this country was founded as a Christian nation and is blessed by God.

However, there is only ONE true nation that is under God:

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, A HOLY NATION, a people who are God’s own possession. You have become this people so that you may speak of the wonderful acts of the one who called you out of darkness into his amazing light. 1 Peter 2:9 (CEB) [emphasis mine]

The true nation of God is not a place with a man-made border, rather it is those who belong to Christ.

The realization that, as believers, we are already a part of the nation of God and it is not something that can be created with the right borders, government, or president, should change everything.

Amen, just like Abraham who: Heb 11:10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
