U.S. troops stationed around the world

La Course vers la Maison-Blanche, a French-language blog about U.S. politics, has a great infographic about how many U.S. troops are stationed overseas and where they are located.

So, just where are US troops stationed? Pretty much everywhere, except the south pole (I’m assuming the penguins are holding out for more before they sign an agreement allowing the U.S. to place a base there):

As part of the graphic, they also show the total percentage of U.S. troops stationed overseas over the last 40 years. The three increases make sense: the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and two wars in Afghanistan and Iraq:
