The World Rearranged By Population

November 30, 2010

This map was making the rounds last week, but I have been a slacker lately when it comes to writing on this blog and so I am just now getting around to posting about it.  The map shows the countries of the world rearranged so that the country with the largest population would move to the country with the largest land area, the second largest populated country would move to the country with the second largest land area, and so on and so forth.  The results are fascinating, even if the map (full size) itself is quite disorienting.

Interestingly, the United States is one of four countries that would not have to change population with another country.  The other three are Ireland, Yemen, and Brazil. More analysis of the map can be found at Strange Maps.
